Scott Styris blasted a century from just 37 balls to help Sussex reach Finals Day of the Friends Life t20 with a 39-run victory over Gloucestershire at Hove.
The New Zealander plundered a single over from James Fuller for 38 runs, a figure made possible due to no-balls, in the process of compiling the third fastest ton in Twenty20 history.
Matt Prior (60) and Murray Goodwin (55) also contributed half-centuries as the Sharks racked up a fearsome total of 230-4 to effectively kill the contest off before the halfway point.
Gloucestershire did post an admirable 191-8 from their 20 overs, with Dan Housego (47) and Alex Gidman (44) the top scorers for the visitors.
Sussex made an awful start to their innings after being put into bat as openers Chris Nash and Luke Wright both fell for one in the first seven balls.
England wicket-keeper Prior led the recovery by smashing Liam Norwell for two sixes and hitting Ian Saxelby onto the roof of the pavilion as he brought up his 50 off just 28 balls.
The England wicketkeeper put on 98 with Goodwin, who played a good supporting role at the other end before accelerating to his 50 off 38 balls.
Run out
Prior's innings came to a disappointing end when he was run out attempting a quick single after being sent back by Goodwin.
Another mix-up should have resulted in Styris being run out, and Gloucestershire were made to pay dearly for missing the chance as the veteran went into overdrive, hitting a remarkable nine sixes and five fours.
The worst of the punishment reserved for Fuller's third and final over, which began with two no-balls and ended after a string of boundaries.
He reached his 50 off 24 balls and then powered to his 100 off a further 13, where he remained unbeaten at the end of the innings. Only Andrew Symonds (34 balls) and Louis van der Westhuizen (35) have scored quicker hundreds in the format.
Gloucestershire needed a miracle to have any chance of victory, but could only manage a solid start from Housego and Hamish Marshall after Benny Howell had departed early for eight.
As the innings progressed Marshall (42) edged Amjad Khan to Prior, Will Beer bowled Housego and Ian Cockbain before Gidman and Fuller added 62 off 4.1 overs.
But Gidman and Ed Young (one) were run out from successive balls and Fuller, having smashed 26 off 12 balls in a bid for redemption, was bowled by Khan to put the contest well and truly to bed.

Thriller as Sussex edge way past Durham - thisissussex.co.uk
SUSSEX came through a nail-biting finish to secure their third LV> County Championship win of the season against Durham at Arundel last week.
Steve Magoffin was the star with bat and ball as he followed up his nine wickets in the match, which included 6-22 in Durham's second innings, with an unbeaten 23 with the bat as Sussex dramatically chased down a meagre target of 94 with just two wickets to spare.
The match had looked like a home banker after Sussex had dismissed Durham for 93 in their second innings, with both sides having scored 231 in their first innings of the match.
But the hosts stumbled to 50-7 as bottom side Durham threatened to upset the odds and earn their first win of the season.
But Sussex bowlers Magoffin and James Anyon (15no) combined to rescue the hosts and see them over the line for a thrilling two-wicket win.
The result sees Sussex move on to 103 points in Division One, lifting them to fourth in the table.
Sussex also enjoyed a winning return to CB40 action on Sunday with an eight-wicket win against Northamptonshire.
Fielding first, Sussex bowled well and restricted their visitors to 46-6, before Keogh (30) and James Middlebrook (37) combined to help the visitors to 129 all out.
Chris Liddle (4-21) was chief tormenter for Sussex, with Scott Styris, Kirk Wernars and Amjad Khan all picking up two wickets each.
In reply, Sussex stuttered early on, losing Chris Nash and Luke Wright for 10 and 13 respectively, before Ed Joyce (38no) and Murray Goodwin (67no) put on 94 to see the Sharks home.
The eight-wicket win leaves Sussex top of the Group C table on 12 points – one point ahead of Warwickshire, who have a game in hand.

Cut up over divorce: Husband takes revenge on wife by sawing furniture in two - Daily Mirror
A jilted husband decided to take revenge on his wife by sawing their furniture in two.
Kevin Fiore, 56, scrawled "Kev's half" on their belongings after he was dumped by Katrina, 39, Stoke crown court heard.
Property damaged by the bankrupt builder included a sofa, a dressing table, a wardrobe and two sets of drawers.
He also scrawled offensive messages on the walls of the couple's marital home during the £5,184 damage spree.
He was arrested after texting his wife, who had left him after four years of marriage, to tell her what he had done at the house in Werrington, Staffs.
Fiona Cortese, prosecuting, told the court: "Mrs Fiore received a text message that said, 'There's nothing left, it's all trashed'."
The court heard Fiore wanted to sell the £130,000 house but was told the garage, utility room and loft conversion would have to be demolished because they had been built without planning permission.
Colin Drew, defending, said his client had depression and was out of work.
He was sentenced to a two-year supervision order. Mrs Fiore, who has an 11-year-old son with him, said yesterday: "I decided to call it a day because we had nothing in common.
"I just cried when I walked round the house. I am shocked that the judge let him walk free."
