Warning after killer flees London jail - The Sun
POLICE were last night hunting one of Britain's longest serving prisoners after he escaped from a high-security jail.
Murderer John Massey, 64, slipped out of HMP Pentonville in North London at around 6.30pm in what is his third prison break.
He used a makeshift rope to scale a wall and was not spotted in time by prison officers, sources said.
Cops went door-to-door in the surrounding streets after warders noticed he was missing and raised the alarm.
Residents said officers were carrying the lifer's photo and told them to stay inside as he could be "dangerous".
Scotland Yard added: "He should not be approached."
Massey has spent more than 35 years behind bars for the murder of nightclub bouncer Charlie Higgins in 1975.
He gunned him down with a sawn-off shotgun at a pub in Hackney, East London.
The Prison Service has launched an investigation into how Massey could escape. He was initially released on parole in June 2007 after spending the last 18 months of his sentence in an open prison.
He was ordered to live in a bail hostel in Streatham, South London, under a curfew. But he ended up breaking the curfew and spent a few days with his dying dad.
Massey was immediately recalled to prison before being sent to another open jail 2½ years later.
He reportedly walked out after hearing his sister was gravely ill and was arrested ten months later and taken to Pentonville.
Anyone with information about Massey’s whereabouts is asked to call Islington Police on 020 7421 0296, or people can inform Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

WikiLeaker-in-chief Julian Assange was served with an extradition notice by the Metropolitan police this morning.
Scotland Yard said that the 40-year-old Australian, who holed himself up in the Ecuadorian Embassy's digs in London a week ago in an effort to seek political asylum, was required to "attend a police station at date and time of our choosing".
Before adding: "This is standard practice in extradition cases and is the first step in the removal process."
As we reported last week, Assange's bizarre plea for shelter from being extradited to Sweden to face allegations of coercion, sexual molestation and rape meant that he had broken one of the conditions of his UK bail terms, which had been in force since his arrest in December 2010.
He had been cuffed, courtesy of a European Arrest Warrant, by the Met's extradition unit on behalf of Swedish authorities.
By taking up residence in the Ecuadorian Embassy's flat in Knightsbridge, London, the computer hacker broke a curfew set out by Scotland Yard, which demanded that Assange remain holed up at his bail address between the hours of 22.00 and 8.00.
The moment he steps outside the door, Assange will be re-arrested under the Bail Act by police officers currently camped outside the embassy.
Scotland Yard said today that Assange "remains in breach of his bail conditions, failing to surrender would be a further breach of conditions and he is liable to arrest".
Meanwhile, Ecuador has yet to respond to Assange's diplomatic plight. ®

The college student was rushed to the town’s Princess Alexandra Hospital, but was later pronounced dead.
Brutal: The body of pregnant Eystna Blunnie, pictured, was found dying on the side of a road in Harlow
Essex Police arrested a 23-year-old man, yesterday afternoon, and were questioning him in connection with the murder and the death of the unborn child.
In a statement, her devastated parents Kevin and Susan Blunnie, said: ‘We hope that you will understand that we have suffered a tragic loss to our family.
Tragic: Estyna Blunnie, who has spoken of her excitement about becoming a mum, posted an ultrasound scan of her unborn child
‘Our daughter and granddaughter have been taken from us in such a tragic and horrific way.
'We can't begin to explain how we feel.
‘Eystna was a wonderful and loving daughter who was looking forward to the birth of her first child.
‘Sadly this will no longer be. We hope that everyone will understand the sadness in our hearts and let us mourn our sadness of the passing of our loved ones.
‘We would also like to thank everyone for their support to our family at this very sad time.’
Today friends told how the young mum-to-be was excited about the birth of her first child, due later this week, before she was discovered with fatal injuries near to Howard Way in Harlow, Essex.
Detectives initially said the death was being treated as unexplained but following the results of a post mortem, it is now being treated as murder.
The horrific nature of the attack at around 3am on Wednesday morning has shocked and upset residents in the area who have laid floral tributes at a bench near to where her body was found.
One of her best friends Chloe Hickman, 20, said: ‘It’s a terrible and wicked thing to happen to such a lovely, bubbly girl.
‘Eystna was such a popular and positive person and was due to be induced at the weekend.
‘She was really looking forward to becoming a mum.’
The young mum-to-be had studied catering at nearby Harlow College and had been excited about life as a full-time mother.
One of Eystna’s close friends Charlotte Bird wrote on Facebook: ‘Hates that I’m gonna go bed tonight and not sleep a wink but all I will be thinking bout are my 2 Beautiful darling Angels tonight who are at peace and now out of trouble sleep tight princesses.’
Distraught: People lay flowers on the side of a main road Howard Way, Harlow near to where Estyna Blunnie and her unborn baby were brutally beaten to death
Grief: Two friends console each other beside tributes to college student Estyna Blunnie who was found fatally wounded in the street having been savagely beaten
When Eystna was five months pregnant she told friends online she was hoping to give birth to a boy, but the brave expectant mother was preparing for life as a single mother.
As she excitedly counted down the days she spoke of the father of her baby, who is believed to be the suspect, not wanting the child and having a new partner.
Describing herself on her profile page Eystna said: ‘I’m 20yrs old 21yrs old this year and going to be a mummy soon can’t wait.
‘So if you have any problems with me or my ex then im not interested as im an adult unlike some of you.’
Tragic: Friends of Estyna Blunnie, who was found dying on the side of a road in Harlow, lay floral tributes to the pregnant college student and her unborn child
Shocking: Flowers have been laid in tribute to a heavily pregnant woman, named locally as Estyna Blunnie, and her baby, near the scene where she was found brutally murdered in Harlow, Essex
Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate are investigating the case and have appealed for more information.
An Essex Police spokesman said: ‘A murder investigation was launched following the conclusion of a post mortem examination on Wednesday.
‘Police were contacted just before 3am with reports of a woman found with injuries in Howard Way.
‘The woman, aged in her 20s, was taken by ambulance to Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow where she was sadly later pronounced dead.
‘Police are investigating the circumstances leading up to the woman’s death and ask anyone with information to contact officers from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate at Harlow on 101.’

London’s Emirates Air Line cable car service launches - Daily Telegraph
The journey itself begins when you board one of the slow-moving cabins at either station. We travelled first from Emirates Greenwich Peninsula to Emirates Royal Docks and faced London City Airport, Royal Victoria Dock and the Thames Barrier. Anyone who’s sensitive to heights may find the journey in the glass-fronted carriages daunting, particularly during the ascent when we experienced slight wobbles, and when they pass directly under the helix towers and shudder and tremble. We docked with a slight bump and a hesitant passenger travelling with us found those moments “petrifying”; for everyone else the journey was unproblematic.
Our return journey was more impressive, with views of the O2, Canary Wharf, the City, Greenwich and the Shard all stretched out before us – if you’re only going to use the service once ensure you travel in this direction. More curious members of our party stood up to take photographs and were reprimanded by an automated announcement telling them to remain seated and reminding passengers that they are being observed by CCTV. Random passenger searches will also be in operation and travellers’ bags may also be checked on occasion. Stickers within the cabin also instruct passengers to refrain from rocking the carriage, wedging its doors open, attempting to stick their legs out the doors, lighting matches and waving enthusiastically from open windows.
What not to do when travelling by Emirates Air Line cable car.
The Emirates Air Line cable car is now open and will operate from 7am-9pm Monday to Friday; 8am-9pm Saturday and 9am-9pm Sunday. Opening hours will be extended when events take place locally and during the Olympics period.

A Diplomatic Divorce is the Only Way to Go - Forbes
In an ideal world, all weddings would result in fairytale marriages and happy endings. No one would ever disagree, cheat, grow apart, lie or lose interest, and divorces would never happen. Of course, that world does not exist.
Divorce is an unfortunate reality of life for many people. It’s not always a bad thing. People grow, mature and grow apart over time, and some marriages cannot sustain these changes. For some people, the divorce is sudden and unexpected; for others, it’s a slow process of marital decay until the separation is inevitable. No matter why the marriage fell apart, the divorce itself is bound to be an emotional period that’s difficult for all parties involved.
Some things will make the process easier for everyone, however, especially if there are children in the mix. By setting aside the hurt feelings and working through the practical aspects of getting the divorce finalized, you can both move on with your lives as quickly and painlessly as possible.
What is an Amicable Divorce?
For people in the throes of a divorce, it may seem anything but amicable. Many separations are preceded by months or even years of arguing, blame-placing, lies or other major issues. Even people who end a relationship on generally good terms may still feel hurt and overwhelmed, and it can be hard to see the divorce clearly and objectively.
An amicable divorce is one where both parties can agree to terms of spousal support, child support, custody and the division of assets without needing a judge to make those decisions for you. An amicable divorce is always uncontested, meaning both parties agree that the marriage is over and are willing to work toward bringing it to a peaceful resolution.
In understanding a diplomatic divorce, it may be helpful to understand what it’s not:
– It doesn’t mean that you’ll both be friends. Although some divorcees are able to maintain friendships with their exes, this is not the norm (certainly not the level of friendship as before) and it’s not something that you should expect.
– It doesn’t mean that the divorce will be painless. You have the right to grieve for the loss of your marriage, and nothing can take that right away from you. Approaching the divorce with a clear head will simply help resolve it quickly and without adding more pain.
– It doesn’t mean that you’ll get everything you want. A diplomatic divorce is fair, which means both sides will come out mostly even. Neither party really “wins” a divorce, so don’t expect to leave the proceedings feeling triumphant.
Once you understand what an amicable divorce really is, it becomes easier to see why it’s the best choice. If you can, you should always strive to end your marriage on a diplomatic note; this is doubly important if you have children and plan to share custody.

London Could Stage Formula 1 Grand Prix - Sky.com
Formula One’s billionaire chief executive Bernie Ecclestone has offered to pay more than £35m to stage a grand prix in London.
Plans for a route around some of London’s most famous landmarks - including Buckingham Palace and Trafalgar Square - are to be unveiled later today.
It would be the biggest grand prix motor race in the world, and experts believe that as many as 120,000 spectators would watch the race from grandstands on the 3.2-mile route.
The event could generate as much as £100m in spending for the London economy.
The idea for a London street race came from British sponsor Santander.
Mr Ecclestone said that he was prepared to promote the race, which is likely to be staged in the summer, with Formula One picking up the bill.
Previous attempts to stage the grand prix in London have fallen flat, when politicians balked at the possible cost.
Governments elsewhere in the world have been charged up to £30m to stage a grand prix race.
Mr Ecclestone believes the event would be so popular that it would pay for itself.
“Think what it would do for tourism. It would be fantastic, good for London, good for England - a lot better than the Olympics,” he said.
Nigel Currie, the director of the sports marketing agency brandRapport, said the grand prix could represent a "commercial bonanza" for the capital.
"A successful London Olympics will show that there is an appetite for big events and bringing a grand prix to the people on their doorstep will attract massive attention."
A study by global design practice Populous has examined the feasibility of staging a London grand prix.
Assistant principal John Rhodes said the event would not cause major disruption, taking five days to set up equipment and three to dismantle it.

Firefighters outside Brentwood station applaud as Blue Watch walks out the start of their strike (Pic: Socialist Worker)
by Anindya Bhattacharyya
Firefighters across Essex walked out on strike at 10am this morning in protest against cuts to frontline service across the county.
The eight hour action was the first of five strikes announced by the FBU union in their long-running dispute with Essex fire authority.
FBU general secretary Matt Wrack joined strikers outside Brentwood fire station this morning. The station is threatened with losing one of its full-time fire engines.
“Were fighting cuts to fire services all over the countryand for us, Essex is the front line,” he told Socialist Worker. The FBU is calling a demonstration against fire service cuts in Essex on 18 July, he added.
Essex fire authority is cutting frontline services despite a lack of budget cuts over all. Some 100 full-time and 60 part-time posts have been axed in the county since 2008.
Service
Nick Mayes is Essex FBUs assistant secretary and has worked as a firefighter at Brentwood for over 25 years. “The management think they can provide the same level of service with fewer firefighters,” he told Socialist Worker.
“Were saying thats an impossibility. You can have as many fire engines as you wantwithout firefighters to crew them theyre just sitting pretty.”
This situation isnt confined to Essex, said Matt Wrack. “There are a few fire authorities that are building their reserves and still making cuts. Essex is not the only one.”
The fire authority should be scrutinising the plans put forward by senior managers rather than simply rubberstamping them, Nick Mayes added.
Job cuts for frontline firefighters coincide with what one striker described as a “corporate expansion” by the fire authorityplush new headquarters, bloated IT budgets, flash cars for senior officers. “You get a similar thing in all public services,” Nick noted.
The management response to the strike has been heavy-handed. Firefighters have been banned from holding union meetings on fire service premises or setting foot on them while on strike. There have also been persistent threats of disciplinary action against strikers from management.
The next strike dates are set for 7 July, 18 July, 18 August and 18 October. The 18 July strike, which coincides with the Essex demo, is scheduled to last for 24 hours.

(Financial Press) Essex Angel Capital: Public Company Exposure To High Growth Private Companies - YAHOO!
Essex Angel Capital introduces an innovative business model that allows investors to benefit from the growth of emerging private companies via a publicly traded common stock.
Windsor, ON (PRWEB) June 28, 2012
VANCOUVER July 28, 2012 (Financial Press) Essex Angel Capital is a company with an innovative business model that allows investors to benefit from the growth of emerging private companies via a publicly traded common stock. Typically, private companies are unavailable to new investors unless they are included in the original funding ,very close to the management team or are a limited partner in a Venture Capital Fund. Those private company investors are then usually offered very little in the way of liquidity to sell their shares and are subject to dilution in follow-on funding rounds common in high growth early stage companies.Essex offers the liquidity of a public stock combined with the high growth potential of early stage venture investing. Having completed its qualifying transaction as of last July in 2011, the company is now well on its way to many ground breaking developments via advancement of products they have in their portfolio of private investments. In a press release issued April 13th, 2012, Essex entered an option to acquire up to 60%, adding 40% to its current 19% position in one of the company’s portfolio investments, Wellness Indicators Inc.
Wellness Indicators, Inc. is a private company based in Wauconda, Illinois which develops, manufactures and markets a dry urinary wellness test strip called The Health EquaterTM Assessment Profile to employers, insurers and governments. The Health EquaterTM provides a personalized client report and gives individuals the opportunity to optimize their health and help identify potential future health risks.
Although it is not diagnostic for any specific disease, the Health Equater has been likened to a “check engine light” in a car because results can be elevated in response to cardiovascular disease, diabetes, autoimmune disorders cancer, and more . “The Health EquaterTM” does all of this at a very efficient price point, delivers results in 5 minutes and fits into the wellness programs of most large employers, health insurers and labor unions.
The retail cost of the Health EquaterTM test is about $30 US and is a viable product for insurers’ to utilize for the assessment and improvement to the insured’s wellness. Having a vast market of 90 million plus people under wellness coverage issued by insurers, the Health Equater is very attractive option to an extremely large group of potential customer groups such as major insurance companies, large employers and labor unions. The potential for growth is strong as this could be used in many other applications, opening a gigantic marketplace to both Wellness Indicators Inc. and subsequently Essex and its shareholders.
Essex Angel Capital announced on June 15th that it has signed a binding letter agreement with Wellness Indicators, Inc., whereby Wellness agreed to grant Essex a quarterly royalty of 2.0% of the gross sales of Wellness in each fiscal quarter. Wellness and the Corporation will enter into a definitive royalty agreement within 20 days of the date hereof. The definitive agreement shall terminate on the date that Wellness completes a liquidity event. Additionally, Essex agreed to acquire a minimum of US$100,000 and up to US$1,000,000 of 6.0% principal amount of secured convertible debentures of Wellness. The Wellness Debentures will be convertible into shares of voting stock of Wellness at a price of US$1.00 per Share for a period of four years from the issuance date. The grant of the Royalty is subject to Essex acquiring a minimum of US$100,000 principal amount of Wellness Debentures. This is another example of Essex unique investing methods of creating returns while a company is in its high growth stages.
Commenting on the furthered investment from Essex Angel, Frank Lyman, President & CEO of Wellness Indicators remarked: “We are very pleased with the proposed Essex transaction as they have been a strategic and valuable investor to Wellness since their first investment. The Health Equater wellness test is a game changer that we believe fills an unmet need in the wellness services market. We already have large potential clients waiting to buy the product and incorporate it into their mix of wellness initiatives. We are eager to launch our full-scale sales efforts.”
“From our initial investment last year to the follow-up funding of the clinical trials to this latest infusion of investment cash, our goal has been to see Wellness Indicators through to full commercialization . The shared royalty on gross sales offers participating Essex investors the potential for returns as soon as the product hits the market ” reported Rick Galdi, CEO & President of Essex Angel Capital.
This unique noninvasive test panel is not only an industry first, but offers important information to individuals and their insurers about their wellness while potentially removing significant costs from the healthcare system. The Health EquaterTM not only addresses a great market need, it also has a solid intellectual property portfolio with the potential for application in more cutting-edge tests in the future.
