Newlyweds Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves, recently appeared in full matrimonial regalia on the cover of People magazine, but as the actor revealed Tuesday to Jay Leno on “The Tonight Show,” the marriage almost didn’t happen.
McConaughey explained how he proposed to Alves, his girlfriend of six years and the mother of his two children. At his family’s Christmas gift exchange, he wrapped up her engagement ring inside a series of boxes and made sure she was the last person to go. When Alves finally opened her ring, McConaughey got down on one knee and proposed: “Will you marry me and take my name?”
Alves, however, didn’t exactly leap at the offer to become Mrs. Matthew McConaughey. “The first words out of her mouth were not ‘yes,’ ” the "Magic Mike" star confessed. Sounding rather serious, he added, “I’m not going to say what it was.” (One can only imagine.)
Whatever her initial objections might have been, Alves eventually “conceded” to McConaughey’s proposal, as he so romantically put it. She even got her way when it came to their unconventional wedding earlier this month. Indeed, it was Alves' idea for all their guests to stay in air-conditioned tents in their backyard, rather than hotel rooms, for the duration of their three-day matrimonial extravaganza. Guests feasted on sushi and barbecue, but no word on where they showered.

Kim Kardashian ties Kris Humphries' ex into feud as divorce trial looms - Metro.co.uk
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star has roped Sinanaj into the divorce proceedings in a bid to prove Kris is not quite the innocent victim he is claiming to be, TMZ has reported.
Kris has tried to keep the fact that he and Myla had been an item since January under wraps - to the point his people lied about the relationship - over fears it would have an detrimental effect on the divorce case.
Kris has demanded £4.5 million from Kim, claiming she devastated him by filing divorce papers, and yet it seem two months after their split he was dating again.
Sources say Kim's lawyer is keen to find out whether Kris said anything to Myla in relation to his claim that the 72-day marriage was a fraud.
Myla's lawyer Joe Tacopina has accepted service on her behalf.
The divorce trial is reportedly set to begin next week in Humphries' home state of Minnesota.
A source told Hollywood Life: 'Depositions are starting this week. It's in motion.'
Kardashian recently opened up about her divorce in an interview with Oprah, claiming she had no ill feelings towards Humphries and that he would always have a place in her heart.
However, Kris's people have said this was purely a bid to win over the public.
The insider said: 'They haven't spoken since she visited him in Minnesota, so it's hard to believe she loves somebody and cares about him when she's never reached out and apologised in private.'
Kim has been dating rapper extraordinaire Kanye West since April.

Here Comes The Dude? Wedding Planning Gets Manly - Fast Company
The season of ceaseless weddings is upon us, so Fast Company called up Chris Easter, cofounder of TheManRegistry.com, to find out if today's men take an equal interest in planning their weddings. Easter argues that they can and do--and the rapidly growing revenues of his site are an indication that he’s right. Just don’t expect a special “50 Hottest Bridesmaids” feature on his website anytime soon.
FAST COMPANY: What’s TheManRegistry.com?
CHRIS EASTER: TheManRegistry.com is an e-commerce site and informational resource for soon-to-be-engaged or currently engaged men. The idea was originally, let’s create a men’s gift registry. Registries typically focus on the kitchen, the bathroom, the bedroom, but there’s nothing aimed at men: grills, camping equipment, man cave stuff. The idea evolved into an overall comprehensive e-resource.
There’s a stereotype that men are less into wedding planning than women.
There’s some truth to it traditionally. But couples are getting married at older ages, closer to thirty than in their early 20s, and so couples are spending more of their own money and less of mom and dad’s money on weddings. If I’m spending my money, I’m going to be more involved, more hands-on with vendors. Our company proves that men do care intimately about planning their weddings and just needed an outlet. A lot of what guys are getting involved in was unheard of 30 years ago.
For example?
A close friend of mine wrote some custom music for the procession. He put his own twist on it.
Did he do it with an electric guitar and smash it at the end?
I pushed for that. It would have made the YouTube hall of fame. No, he kept it classical, but with a bit of a twist. There was a violin.
Until recently Conde Nast alone had multiple bridal magazines. How did they not figure out there would also be a market for grooms?
That was our question. The issue for us is the for-men-by-men approach. There was a website back in the 90s that tried to target the groom, but it got acquired by Brides.com, which took too much of a female approach. TheManRegistry is by men. It’s like reading Men’s Health or Maxim.
A Maxim for married men? That’s not a contradiction in terms?
I give Maxim as an example of a male-centric magazine.
You don’t have a “50 Hottest Bridesmaids” issue planned?
We haven’t gone there yet. We push the envelope occasionally. We’ve had content on wedding sex, what to do if you’re a virgin, sex on your honeymoon. But we take the process very seriously. The wedding day is the biggest day of both of your lives, equally for the groom and bride.
What’s your business model?
The revenue is split between e-commerce sales--we have over 4,000 products on the site--and we’re also ad-supported. The wedding industry is a $40 billion industry, so there’s quite a bit of space to carve out a niche for grooms.
Does anyone take you to task for labeling certain products as being for men? Some women grill, and some men bake.
The Man Registry is about being a man by stepping up and being involved in the planning of your wedding. Being a man can mean a lot of things. Being a man is not about being out with your shirt off drinking beers. It’s about: This is the biggest day of your life, and if you’re not involved, that’s a problem.

'Someone's after more money': Katie Price blames ex-husband Alex Reid for deliberately delaying their divorce - Daily Mail
|
It looked like Katie Price and Alex Reid's brief marriage was finally over when they were granted a decree nisi in March.
However, the glamour model today complained the final divorce ruling has been delayed because her estranged husband wants more money.
Although a High Court judge initially granted the couple a divorce on the grounds of Reid's 'unreasonable behaviour' in March, they are yet to have it finalised.
Feminine look: Katie Price wears a pink top and orange skirt as she arrives at ITV studios
Following the decision in March, it normally takes between five to six weeks for a divorcing couple to be given a decree absolute.
However, appearing on Loose Women today, Katie bemoaned the fact she was unable to move on properly with new fianc Leandro Penna because she was still wed to Alex.
The 34-year-old said: 'I'm still married.'
She then claimed: 'It would have been quicker, but obviously someone's after more money.'
Holding things up? Alex Reid, pictured outside his Essex home yesterday, has been blamed for delaying the divorce
Katie and Alex famously split in January 2011 after just 11 months of marriage.
The mother-of-three ended up marrying Alex in Las Vegas just nine months after she was dumped by first husband Peter Andre.
On reflection, she concedes she was on the rebound from Peter when she started dating Alex eight weeks later.
Speaking on Radio 4's Woman's Hour today, she admitted: 'The public was right about Alex, I was on the rebound.

'Yes, I know I was on the rebound and I'm not rushing into getting married again. Yes, I'm engaged, but I've actually grown-up and thought there's no rush for anything.'
For her appearance on Loose Women, it was quite a surprise to see the former glamour model looking demure in a pink top and flowing orange skirt today.
However, it was only when she turned around, she was given a cheeky flash of bra, which she had co-ordinated with her top.
On Woman's Hour, she praised her 'intelligent' Argentine fianc for learning English, admitting it was difficult when they first started dating.

She explained: 'I said, "yeah, yeah, I'm gonna learn Spanish" but you just don't. I think, "everyone speaks English, he'll end up speaking English." And he does.'
When Jenni asked if she had tried to learn Spanish, Katie replied: 'I haven't had the time. That's awful isn't it?
'He's made the time and the effort and we can actually have a conversation now. He went to English school and properly learned English. In fact, he speaks it better than me.'
Addressing her split from Peter, she added: 'I never wanted to split from him. Its just unfortunate he thought I was having an affair with my riding instructor.
English lessons: Katie said her Argentine fianc Leandro Penna spoke better English than she did
'He always says "I can never say why", because he knows he's married with his family and if he does say it, we'll all jump on the bandwagon and say, "prove it."
The mother-of-three is currently promoting her new novel In The Name Of Love, which tells the story of a holiday romance between sports presenter Charlie and Spanish Olympian horse-rider Felipe.
The book is her eighth novel and has been ghost-written with author Rebecca Farmsworth.
Speaking about their partnership on Woman's Hour, she said: 'I feel sorry for Rebecca. I speak into the Dictaphone. You've definitely got to have a talent to sit there and write the book and she's amazing at it.
'I come up with the plot and we go through each chapter together.'

Kate Gosselin Gets an Apology—From Ex-Husband Jon Gosselin! - Entertainment Online
Jon Gosselin wasn't the first to admit he's made some mistakes—but he has finally boarded the bandwagon.
Almost three years to the day since he and Kate Gosselin revealed to the world that divorce proceedings were underway, the former reality-TV star is looking to make amends with those he has hurt, starting with his ex-wife.
And, if that works out, maybe with TV audiences, as well.

"I am sorry, because I did stuff I wouldn't want done to me," Jon tells People in a new interview.
Tabloid stories suggesting that Jon was cheating on Kate—quickly followed by rumors that Kate was more than friends with her bodyguard—first shook the Jon and Kate Plus 8 foundation back in 2009.
Both spouses, married since 1999, denied being unfaithful, but they filed for divorce on June 22, 2009.
In additional papers filed that September, Jon admitted to using "poor judgment in publicly socializing with other women so soon."

"I was passive-aggressive," the 35-year-old divorcé now tells People in reference to the various things that led to the end of his marriage. "Then I'd get mad, but I was the one who wasn't communicating."
Jon, who dropped off the reality-TV scene when the show he once costarred on became Kate Plus 8, recently took a job as director of sales and promotions for Gameface International, a sports event and management firm. He's also dating a single mom, 27-year-old Liz Jannetta, according to People.
But while he shunned the spotlight for awhile and wanted his kids to do ths same (Kate won out on that one), guess what? He's willing to put himself out there again if the right opportunity comes along.
"I've been offered a lot of stuff," he says. "Crazy stuff. It wasn't the right fit, then or now. I don't want [my kids] thinking I take every show just to make a buck."
Jon took to Twitter in April to deny a report that he was $3,500 behind in child support payments, writing that the Pennsylvania Department of Child Welfare's website was just showing his amount due, and that he reliably pays up every month.
