A weather warning remains in place for Kent today as the River Darent continues to be on flood alert.
Forecasters at the Met Office say they rain will last until at least lunchtime - and some showers could be heavy.
Water levels on the River Darent from Westerham to Dartford - including Otford, Eynsford and South Darenth - remain high after heavy overnight rain.
The Environrment Agency said the flood alert will be in force until at least 3pm.
The Environment Agency has issued 45 flood alerts, with more than 38 in the south east.
Meanwhile, Kent County Cricket club have moved tonight's Friends Life t20 match against Sussex Sharks to the St Lawrence Ground, Canterbury, after flash flooding in Tunbridge Wells.
Motorists are also being told to take extra care on the roads. There were delays on Kent's motorways this morning as traffic was slowed down by heavy spray.
Heavy rain flooded the junction of St Marks Avenue and Beresford Road in Northfleet.

Essex County rugby team wins state title - Newburyport Daily News
Rugby
Mass. Rugby Organization
The Essex County Bulldogs Rugby Football Club claimed the Massachusetts Rugby Organization's state championship with a 14-13 win over the defending champion Berkshire United Rugby Football Club Saturday in Pittsfield.
In 2008 the Bulldogs had just 22 kids playing flag rugby against each other. By 2010, they fielded a U19 team and began competing against other programs across Massachusetts.
Last season the Bulldogs lost their first match of the season to Berkshire by more than 40 points. That season, they improved enough to earn a berth in last year's state tournament, advancing to the finals versus Berkshire. The Essex County club was within 20 seconds of claiming last year's state championship. Berkshire scored in the final minute, winning the title 17-12.
Earlier this year, both teams met up again at Amesbury Sports Park in a regular-season match that ended in a 20-20 tie. After that match, the Bulldogs were perfect, scoring over 170 points against Seacoast RFC, Portland Maine and Arlington Catholic High School. Meanwhile, Berkshire did equally well.
Going into the state finals last weekend, the Bulldogs and Berkshire were ranked number one and two, respectively.
Led by coaches Dave Hill, Chip Lynch, Joe Stanley and Dennis Donnovan, the Bulldogs scored five times, including one successful try each from Amesbury's Matt Bell and Masconomet's MacKenzie Cashin, topping Worcester RFC in the semifinal by a score of 29-11.
On the opposite field, the speedy Berkshire club ran past the Springfield Rifles RFC, posting a 29-0 shutout, leading to a rematch of last year's championship.
In the final, Berkshire jumped out to a 5-0 lead on the first drive of the match, before Amesbury's Connor Norton pushed the ball in for the Bulldogs. Masco's Andrew Swimm gave the Bulldogs the 7-5 lead with the two-point goal kick after the try. Late in the first half, Berkshire's speedy backfield outran the Bulldog defenders for another try, and then added another three points with a goal kick to close the half.
The second half became a defensive grind with neither team giving much ground until the Bulldogs pushed the ball down the field in the final minute of the match. With 22 seconds left, Norton got his second try of the match, and Swimm nailed a tough goal kick to give Essex County a one-point lead. A frantic push by Berkshire was defended by the Bulldogs, giving them the championship.

The TOWIE gang are back and love-ing Marbella - The Sun
Jessica Wright and Ricky Rayment, 20, finally agree to make things official as their relationship heats up in the Spanish sun.
The TOWIE lovebirds have been flirting and dating for weeks, but Jess, 26, refused to fully admit her feelings for her toyboy ... until now.
Meanwhile Sam Faiers and Joey Essex, both 21, are looking just as loved-up as ever.
The couple, who got together at the end of the last series, are getting more and more serious by the day and couldn't look happier as they stroll arm in arm in Marbs.
And if that isn't enough romance, Lucy Mecklenburgh, 21, and Mario Falcone are seen getting ENGAGED on the trip.
Mario, 24, pops the question during a romantic cruise off the coast of the Spanish resort.
But it isn't all sweet nothings on the ITV2 show, James 'Arg' Argent, who was seen smooching co-star Gemma Collins, 31, in the last episode of the series, reveals the pair are just "good friends".
He plays down their kiss telling pals Joey, James 'Diags' Bennewith and Tom Pearce: "Me and Gemma are good friends."
And a snap Arg, 24, posted on Twitter yesterday of the pair in Marbs, seems to confirm they are very close mates.
He uploaded the pic of Gemma cuddling up to him on a boat with the caption: "Bigger is beautiful haha! Miss my @missgemcollins Wouldn't change a thing about her! #HolidayBlues."
Things are also looking a little less rosy for besotted Tom P, who is desperate to make a proper go of things with Lauren Pope, but she isn't so keen.
The 28-year-old tells him: "I think how it is right now is good... it works."
Wanting more, Tom asks: "Are you saying that’s all it’s every going to be?"
Lauren, who is worried about their age gap, swerves the question, simply replying: "You’re 22, why are you looking so far ahead?"
Meanwhile the other Tom, Tom Kilbey, is forced to have a difficult conversation with ex Billi Mucklow on the trip.
Billi, 24, admits: "It’s just strange, because the last time we were out here – I was with you."
Tom K, who is now dating their co-star Lydia Bright, says: "You're right. it is weird, even sitting here with Lydia and you."
Billi, who is best pals with Tom's sister Cara, then asks: "So have you traded me in for a younger model or something?"
To which Tom K, 21, replies: "You two are different though aren't you. Are you alright with it though? Tell me."
Tom adds: "Well it's fine if we can talk and laugh about it now - no?"
Billi confesses: "I don’t know if I’d laugh at it yet but I’ll get over it. It’s not funny yet."
But co-star Chloe Simms, 30, isn't letting love woes ruin her holiday, declaring she's happier being single.
She tells Lauren P: "I feel like I met the love of my life in my past and I don’t think anyone else is going to be able to top him.
"So now I’m just chilling – I’ve got Pops (Lauren), she’s the new love of my life."
Despite their relationship ups and downs, the TOWIE lot are always in the mood for a party.
And rapper Tinchy Stryder is on hand to join in the fun at a champagne spray party.
The Only Way Is Marbs airs tomorrow night at 10.00pm on ITV2.

First gay couple to become fathers in UK spend £65k to ensure next child is a girl - Daily Mail
- Barrie and Tony Drewitt-Barlow already fathers to four boys and a girl
- Have travelled to the U.S. to seek specialist IVF treatment
- 'We wanted girls to balance our family,' says Tony
|
Britain’s first gay fathers have have spent 65,000 travelling to the U.S. so they can undergo IVF treatment which will ensure their next child is a girl.
Barrie and Tony Drewitt-Barlow, from Chelmsford, Essex, hit the headlines 12 years ago when they they became they became the first same-sex couple to be legally recognised in the UK.
They have used a surrogate mother and egg donors to father four boys and a girl, spending more than 1 million in the process, but they are now desperate for another daughter and have looked to overseas fertility specialists so they can choose the baby's sex.
Happy brood: The family laugh while dressing up as the Von Trapps for Closer's Sound Of Music-inspired shoot
It is currently illegal to use IVF in the UK for sex selection purposes other than for medical reasons.
Two weeks ago, three embryos were implanted in a surrogate mother in California that the pair chose to provide their new baby.
Now they are waiting to hear whether she is pregnant with their sixth child.
This time the two men have used a controversial method, costing 65,000 that is allowed in the U.S. but banned in Britain - to make sure the baby will be a girl.

As three embryos have been used, there is even a chance that the surrogate could give birth to triplet daughters. They already have two sets of twins Aspen and Saffron and Jasper and Dallas.
Barrie, 42, told Closer magazine: 'We would love to have three more girls. Saffron would love to have little sisters to play with.'
The millionaire dad added: 'We can’t wait to spoil our new daughters. I want to buy them pink Prada dresses and babygros.
'We will recycle too. We are going to use Saffron’s old wicker crib from Harrods, which cost 5,000, and divide one of the 100,000 diamond necklaces she does not wear any more into individual pieces for the babies.
'And we want to decorate the nursery as a rainforest!'
Barrie and 47-year-old Tony say that the sex selection technique is only available in the U.S., Mexico, Italy and Thailand.
Tony said : 'If sex selection was not possible, we would still have more children and love them, whatever their gender.
'But the technology is available and we wanted girls to balance our family. It causes outrage but I bet most people would do it.'
Tony added: 'The kids love the idea of getting sisters. They are so close. They are all such different characters, but get along so well.”
Barrie says they will adopt overseas if the current attempt at surrogacy fails to work. Whichever way they achieve their dream of a new daughter, they have promised to spoil the newcomer.
He said: “Saffron’s clothes come from every designer from Gucci and Karen Millen and she has 500 pairs of shoes.
'We spent 50,000 having her room designed like a swanky London flat with a 39-inch plasma TV and furniture from Harrods. The boys are not as bothered about clothes, but we get them the latest iPads and laptops.
The Drewitt-Barlows were the first British homosexual couple to be named on their children's birth certificates
'People say we should not spoil them, but they deserve it.
The pair became famous in 1999 when they became the first British same-sex couple to be named on their children’s birth certificates.

Twins Aspen and Saffronwere born to a surrogate mother in California. After a ruling by an American court, they became the first British children to be registered as having two fathers and no mother.
Four years later, they used the same egg donor and a different surrogate to have Orlando.
In 2010, the couple welcomed their fourth and fifth children, twins Dallas and Jasper, into the world.
They were born to the same surrogate mother who carried Orlando. The couple entered into a civil partnership in 2006.
The couple sold a clinical testing business in 1998 and found themselves swamped by same-sex couples seeking advice. With Tony’s clinical expertise, they set up the British Surrogacy Centre in Maldon, Essex, in February 2011.
Last year, the couple, who have made millions from cosmetic research, were accused of fabricating the test results in clinical trials.
They were also accused of lying to an ethics committee by saying that Barrie was a nurse when he did not hold the appropriate qualifications.
Euroderm Research, which went into liquidation in March 2008, conducted tests for dermatological and cosmetic products. They pleaded not guilty to the allegations.

London leading destination city in 2012-study - Reuters UK
LONDON |
LONDON (Reuters) - The home of this summer's Olympic Games and the Diamond Jubilee celebrations for Britain's Queen Elizabeth is also the world's top destination this year, according to an index released by global credit card company MasterCard on Monday.
MasterCard's "Worldwide Index of Global Destination Cities" predicted that London will see 16.9 million people arrive by air compared with a million less for second place city Paris and airmiles ahead of New York at 13th place with 7.6 million arrivals.
The index also said that London, for the second year running, will attract the highest international visitor spend at $21.1 million, just ahead of New York at $19.4 million.
"London offers better value for money than New York," MasterCard Worldwide's global economic advisor Yuwa Hedrick-Wong told Reuters.
The queen's diamond jubilee saw London fill with visitors from abroad and around Britain for four days of celebrations at the start of June and the Olympics which will take place at venues in and around London from July 27 to August 12 is expected to pull in visitors from all over the planet.
"As our fantastic Diamond Jubilee celebrations demonstrated, London knows how to throw a party and, as we prepare to host the greatest Games the world has ever seen, it is no surprise our capital is the top choice for tourists," London Mayor Boris Johnson said in a statement along with Mastercard's index.
Well established international destination Bangkok was the other big winner in the index at third place with 12.2 million visitors who will spend $19.3 million.
"Bangkok's advantage is that it's a very tolerant culture," Hedrick-Wong told Reuters. "That explains its durability, especially attracting Europeans and Americans. I cannot imagine Western visitors doing the same thing in Malaysia, even China."
The Index, which encompasses 132 of the world's most important cities, is being marketed as a new map for understanding global connectivity.
Businesses and investors might find the Index's list of city growth rates of more interest than current rankings. Brazilian and Chinese cities also featured highly in the survey for both visitor numbers and spend.
"The growth patterns show how important cities are," says Hedrick-Wong, "and they're popping up from everywhere. They take on some really important local or regional significance overnight because of a new development."
Expect to hear much more about Recife and Belo Horizonte in Brazil, and Chengdu, Harbin, Xian and Guangzhou in China.
Using information gleaned from 87 airlines, national tourism boards, the United Nations and other global agencies, the MasterCard Index offers an optimistic overall forecast.
Total visitor numbers and cross-border spending will increase by 5.7 percent and 10.6 percent respectively for the top 20 destination cities in 2012.
The result is a bright spot in a period of slow world economic output, a persistent euro zone crisis and increased uncertainty in the financial sector.
"The growing need and desire to travel, especially by air, are set to expand in spite of the ups and downs of the business cycles," MasterCard's report said.
In a survey also out on Monday, by Mercer, London was ranked the 25th most expensive city in the world and the most expensive city for expatriates.

Margate GP told patient 'his only hope was Jesus' - BBC News
A Kent GP said to a vulnerable patient that he would "eternally suffer" if he did not put his faith in Jesus, a medical watchdog has been told.
The General Medical Council (GMC) heard Dr Richard Scott, whose surgery is in Margate, told the 24-year-old patient that he would not give him medication.
A GMC panel in Manchester heard that the patient was told "his only hope of recovery was through Jesus".
Dr Scott disputes the account of the consultation in August 2010.
The remarks were said to have made at the end of a consultation at the Bethesda Medical Centre in Margate.
After discussing medical matters Dr Scott said, as a committed Christian, he had simply offered the patient the chance to talk about the role faith may have in helping with his problems.
At the four-day-hearing, Andrew Hurst, counsel for the GMC, claimed the doctor had told the man, known only as patient A: "He did have a cure, which would cure him for good.
"His one and only hope of recovery was through Jesus.
"If he did not turn to Jesus and hand him his suffering he would suffer for the rest of his life."
Anonymous witnessDr Scott disputes the account given by the patient, described by the GMC's own lawyer as a man with a "troubled psychological history".
When the case was first heard in September it was adjourned after the patient refused to give evidence.
The GMC heard that the patient had agreed to give evidence by phone on condition he was given anonymity and without the public or press present at the hearing.
Dr Scott said he was being denied a proper hearing after the GMC agreed to the patient's request on Monday.
An application by Dr Scott's lawyers for an adjournment to seek a judicial review to try to overturn the rules was rejected by the GMC's Investigation Committee.
Radio transcriptsMr Hurst pointed the GMC committee to transcripts of comments made by Dr Scott on BBC Radio 2's Jeremy Vine Show and on Nicky Campbell's show on BBC Radio 5 live, speaking of his faith and its use in treating patients.
He said medical rules stated doctors "must not express to your patients your personal beliefs, including political, religious or moral beliefs, in ways that exploit their vulnerability or that are likely to cause them distress", and good medical practice stated the "first duty" of a doctor is the care of a patient".
The GMC was criticised over its alleged "persecution" of Christians after the case was first heard last September - which it rejects.
Mr Hurst said the GMC did not have any bias for or against any religion either way and medics could talk about faith - but Dr Scott had simply "crossed the line" and gone too far.
"The GMC's position is not one that is hostile or opposed or biased against Christianity or any other religion," he said.
"Nor does it seek to promote a wholly secular society."
He was then asked by the chairman of the committee who had prepared the transcripts of the radio programmes to be used in evidence against Dr Scott.
"The National Secular Society," Mr Hurst replied.
The case continues.

London 2012: Oscar Winner Danny Boyle Details Olympics Opening Ceremony Plans - Hollywood Reporter
LONDON -- Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle plans to transform the Opening Ceremony of the London Olympics into a surreal vista of a "green and pleasant land" at the newly built host stadium in Eastern London.
Boyle, wearing his hat as London 2012 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony artistic director, will orchestrate a cast of thousands of people and live animals, including 12 horses, 10 chickens, nine geese and 70 sheep.
Also on show before any athlete has performed will be a village cricket team; a model of Glastonbury's Tor (Hill), known for the world-famous music festival; and a parade of nurses.
Each of the four nations in the United Kingdom will be represented by their national flower -- the rose of England, the thistle of Scotland, the daffodil of Wales and flax from Northern Ireland.
PHOTOS: Sundance London – Highlights from the Film and Music Festival
The opening scene promises real grass, real plows, real soil and, according to Boyle, clouds that would supply "rain" if there is none on the night in order to ensure an authentically British atmosphere.
"The ceremony is an attempt to capture a picture of ourselves as a nation, where we have come from and where we want to be," Slumdog Millionaire director Boyle said. "The best part of telling that story has been working with our 10,000 volunteers."
He also told gathered media Tuesday that there will be British humor and that the country's history will be represented, but "not in a box-ticking way," and that the show will reflect "parts of our heritage but looking forward as well."
To date, a total of 157 cast rehearsals have taken place, with volunteer performers giving up their evenings and weekends to take part in preparations at a site to the east of London.
STORY: Where to Eat and Sleep Chic During the London Games
The ceremonies prop store at the East London studio facility 3 Mills Studio is producing 2,956 props, and staff in the costume department are working to produce 23,000 costumes for all four ceremonies. The work includes sewing 24,570 buttons onto the costumes for one of the opening sequences.
Boyle already had revealed that the three-hour Opening Ceremony would be entitled "Isles of Wonder," a title based on a speech by Caliban in Shakespeare's The Tempest that will be referenced throughout the four ceremonies of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Boyle said the opening show would not be a musical but a narrative set to music.
British electronica band Underworld has recorded two lengthy tracks at Abbey Road to score the action. The Closing Ceremony promises to be a more traditional celebration of British music.
The ceremonies will cost a total of £81 million ($126 million).
The British government recently said it was pumping in an extra $64.3 million from a $14.6 billion public sector funding package to double the budget for the Games ceremonies, justifying the move by saying it was a "once in a lifetime" opportunity to promote the U.K.
The opening evening is expected to run as an hourlong cultural extravaganza before the traditional parade of athletes and the lighting of the Olympic cauldron and the fireworks.
Boyle said the giant bell will ring to begin the show.
The London Olympics run July 27-Aug. 12.

Essex bid to start t20 campaign with a win - East Anglian Daily Times
Greg Smith, who is in a 13-man squad for Essex's match against Surrey and could make his t20 debut for the county.
Tuesday, June 12, 2012
10:00 AM
ESSEX Eagles turn their attentions to Friends Life t20 action for the next few weeks starting with a trip to the Kia Oval to face Surrey Lions tomorrow night for their opening match in this year’s competition.
Eagles head coach Paul Grayson has selected a 13-man squad for the match, start 6.30pm, and he is anxious to see his charges commence their South Group qualifying matches with a victory.
“One-day cricket is all about momentum and, obviously, we want to make a good start against Surrey Lions where we have a good record over the years,” he said.
“We know that the South Group is tough and there are some good cricketers in our section but I believe in our lads. We have some excellent players ourselves and if we get some good results early on in the competition, then I believe that there is every chance that we can qualify.
“Last year, we won seven and lost seven plus a couple of games were washed-out so we were inconsistent. Batting will be our strength this year in this format and so we’ve got to be very workmanlike in the way that we bowl. We’ve also got to be smart with our bowling changes and our spin options.
“We feel that we are better prepared this year than we were last year when we came straight off a four-day game and went immediately into the Twenty20 campaign. This time, we’ve had some time to prepare and practise our skills and we are hoping for a big performance on Wednesday night.
“Then we’ve got three matches in as many night next week, so the games come thick and fast and if you do lose a game, you can’t sit around feeling sorry for yourself, you might have to play again the next night.”
Essex will only have one overseas player for the competition despite intense efforts to sign another player to join James Franklin.
“We really tried to get a second overseas player in to join us but we have been let down by a couple of players,” Grayson explained.
“It’s proved a really difficult situation trying to bring someone else in but I’m happy with the squad we’ve got. I would have liked another one-day specialist bowler but we’ll live with that. It means that we’ve got to find a way to bowl well in the format and trust our batsmen to perform more consistently because last year, they didn’t do that.”
History favours for a winning start for the Eagles whose impressive record against Surrey in the FL t20 format includes victories in nine of the 13 matches with only two defeats while the other couple of games were abandoned.
Essex squad: J Foster, J Franklin, M Pettini, T Westley, G Smith, O Shah, R ten Doeschate, A Wheater, G Napier, T Phillips, D Masters, T Mills, M Chambers.
